(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – Geneva College welcomes Christopher Treib as the new Vice President of Information Technology, responsible for maintaining the college’s technology protocols and managing information systems and services, with oversight of Geneva’s security and cybersecurity services, starting February 1, 2022. In his role as Vice President, Treib will also serve on the College Cabinet.
In 2000, Treib earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the United States Coast Guard Academy and later graduated from the University of Colorado with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2009. He has also completed a year of graduate coursework in Cybersecurity at the National Defense University.
Treib joined the United States Coast Guard in 1996 with the goal of saving lives and seeing the world. For three years, he worked within the Coast Guard’s operations systems as Datacenter Branch Chief, overseeing management of datacenter infrastructure, service management, and application support. From 2017-2019, Treib managed cybersecurity within the Department of Homeland Security, coordinating technology tours and managing executive reporting for the Chief Information Officer.
Since 2019, he has served as the C5I Service Center Infrastructure Management Services Branch Chief for the Coast Guard. In response to COVID-19, Treib tripled the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and coordinated the imaging and delivery of 8,000 laptops to support Coast Guard operations during the pandemic.
Treib is a member of the Officer’s Christian Fellowship, IEEE Communications & Computer Society, the Institute of Navigation, as well as the American Legion and the Armed Forces Communication & Electronics Association.
“As the husband of a Geneva alumni, Mary Alice (Hueber ‘96) Treib, it is our hearts’ desire to return to the Geneva family,” Treib says. “I embrace Geneva and the Reformed Presbyterian Church for taking a stand for truth and authority of the Word. This integration of faith and life is foundational for future leaders, particularly where technology plays a large role in the culture. I stand with you on our unfailing Rock.”
The Treibs have three children: Mundy, Shelby and Aubrey.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Treib serves within his church Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church of Annandale as a children’s ministry instructor and usher. In his time off, he enjoys getting outside to hike, fish, swim and camp.
